Hot Fire Training
Members of Londonderry Rural Fire Brigade recently undertook
some practical hot fire training at fire training ground at the
Testsafe site at Londonderry.
A variety of flammable liquid fires were ignited and Londonderry
firefighters practised extinguishment techniques using foam
making branchpipes and dry chemical powder (DCP) extinguishers.
Londonderry Rural Fire Brigade would like to thank Testsafe for
the use of their facility and also F/F Michael Kovacs for his
instruction on DCP extinguishers. Michael showed us how with
proper technique, even a seemingly large flammable liquid
fire can be quickly extinguished with a relatively small DCP
extinguisher.
